About Ed Dauphin

I've been working with business owners for the last 16 years providing business coaching and CFO services.

I spent 26 years of my career in the banking industry. In 1986 after 14 years as a banker in Lafayette, LA, I accepted the challenging role of President of Louisiana Delta Bank.  This was the successor organization to a failed bank in Lake Providence, LA purchased from the FDIC by a group of investors. I quickly transformed Louisiana Delta into a high-performance bank through developing updated operational systems, reducing operational cost by implementing technology, and acquiring a large agricultural loan portfolio. Throughout my banking career my desire to be a “business coach” was limited due to lender liability issues.   Through this experience I recognized that many business owners needed a “part-time CFO or business coach” to assist them with financial and management issues.

In 1998 I left banking and returned to Lafayette, LA to begin my consulting practice. I enjoy working with business owners and key team members to help them achieve their objectives. At my core I am a financial, process and management analyst who uses acute observation, listening and analytical skills to assimilate information and other factors which aren’t always obvious. I have a very “hands-on” style and assume an active role as a sounding board, problem solver and teacher. I developed an extensive knowledge of the manufacturing and service industries combined with my years of experience in developing, refining and executing operational processes which are applicable to all types of businesses.

All too frequently, I found that when asked by clients to help them that a poorly configured and inadequate accounting system severely limited my ability to apply financial analysis techniques. In many cases my first task was to restructure and/or correct the accounting system so that accurate and useful data could be extracted for analysis.  This necessity lead me to become very proficient with several versions of the QuickBooks Accounting System since it is the predominant accounting software for small business.

I am a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor and have been working actively with QuickBooks since 1997. I have helped hundreds of small businesses with setup, configuration, training and corrective accounting to get their accounting system on the right track.

In addition to my own client base, I have been a third-party consultant providing services to the clients of the Small Business Development Center in Lafayette and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana for over 10 years.

I am a member of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana Industrial Advisory Board since 2000 (retiring from that board in 2010 and returning in 2014) and served as its Chairman for 3 years.
